The pause we never take

The pause we never take

When I moved to Dubai a decade ago, I came chasing the same thing most of us do: possibilities.

This city hums with ambition; makes you feel like "standing still is falling behind".

Everyones running here, some for opportunity, some for stability, and some just because it’s what the rhythm of the city demands. Hot and happening.

And I think I was no different. I kept going one deadline after another, one project after the next.

Until recently, when at least two different people, in completely separate conversations, casually reminded me to take a pause. Nothing dramatic, just that quiet, gentle advice that sticks with you for some reason.

Then my boss said something that really hit me. He said, “It’s always going to be like this — busy, unpredictable, never perfectly balanced. But learn to find ways to enjoy it along the way.”

It made sense.

We spend so much time imagining this mythical “later”, a point when life will finally slow down, when we’ll have the time, money, and peace to enjoy ourselves. But sometimes, "later" never really comes. Lifes doesnt wait for us to catch up.

I think that’s the quiet truth we often miss: theres no perfect pause waiting in the future.

The pause has to be created: right now, in the middle of the noise.

Race is inevitable. Learning when to stop running, if only for a moment, to breathe, to smile, and to remember why we started in the first place.

Why we started in the first place.
